Pros

Perfect launch pad if you're looking for your first adult job out of school. Great peers, free snacks and beers, lots of fun tradeshows to rack up airline miles on.... definitely the work-hard/play-hard culture. Really young and inexperienced associates. Fun quarterly parties and pod outings. Softball league. Nice stock opportunities in my offer. Just wish I didn't stay as long as I did. Stay 2 years MAX, then go somewhere you can actually move up the ladder to develop your career and get paid what you're worth. The same job at other firms can pay upwards of $20k/year more.

Cons

Very low pay for all the work you do. Incompetent mid-level managers. Not much room to advance up the ladder anymore- they only look to bring in external candidates with Ivy League MBAs with consulting backgrounds for senior leadership roles now. Ask you to work weekends at a tradeshow, then expect you to come in on Monday morning after a redeye like no big deal. It's a lovely experience for the first 1-2 years, MAX, then it's time to get out of there and get the respect you deserve.

Pros

Flexible Schedule, free snacks, pod outings, company mixers, that's really about it. It's a call center if that's what you enjoy.

Cons

So here's my opinion on Wayfair in Brunswick. If your just out school and looking for your first job, it's a great choice. I would not recommend this office as a career choice. The management for the Retention Business B2B Sales either has no idea on how to use technology or it is their first management job for working with the company. To boil it down they have no idea how to manage people, they are heavily data driven. The thought of true relationship management is not in their wheelhouse, it's just basically a inside sales short sell order entry position in a call center environment. Be very aware of anything else they may be offering you. Starting off with over 60 account managers and are now down to less then 15 in a year is a very big red flag.

Pros

Fun work culture, decent parties, free snacks, easy to get a job fresh out of college.

Cons

Wayfair expects you to get to work early, stay late, get about 2-3 person's amount of work done and they pay you NOTHING for it. Around review/promotion time, there is always some excuse for why you aren't getting the pay bump you asked for/deserve. They are always going to "advocate for you next time." Do NOT fall for it! They will never advocate for you, or even if your manager does, the execs won't pay you to stay. They have a crazy high turnover rate for a reason. They do NOT care how much money you have made the company, how perfect your work is, or how much your coworkers love working with you. Their mindset is very much that they will just replace you with someone else fresh out of college rather than paying you more. Ridiculously low pay for such an expensive city, you can't afford to live in the city you work in. To give you an idea, when I started I was paid 30k (2012), almost 5 years later I left at 48k. When I left I was a manager, had an enormous amount of work on my plate, had NEVER gotten a bad review (in fact all of them were really good). Trust me I was paid in the 30s most of the time. Really wish I had left there sooner!
