Pros

- You'll find many smart people to work with, who genuinely want to do good work - Unlimited PTO (for mid-level management and above) - Employee discounts

Cons

- Lack of organization-wide business goals - Ineffective talent development practices - Power-hungry senior leadership - Homogeneity (race, leadership gender, personality, education) - Ex-consultants who are great talkers and not great executers

Pros

- fun offices - really great people - pod outings are fun - complex design problems

Cons

- wayfair is wholly mismanaged - senior leadership in the design org was really kind but misguided - a chasm between product and design lent itself to a lot of mistrust - the consumer experience of wayfair is always going to be limited by how much the company loves suppliers. you're going to be asked to make tradeoffs between users and what will maximize margins, and being "waythrifty" will always win. - a really long process to acquire any tool that'll make your work easier. - so. much. drama. truly it feels like no one trusts anyone, and everyone loves to talk about how they're going to leave as soon as they can. - you're made to feel as expendable as you possibly can be.

This is NOT a 5 star company

Pros

I received a paycheck. Nothing else.

Cons

I have read a number of 5 star reviews with people stating this is the best company they ever worked for, how amazing it is, wonderful managers, and the best experience they ever had. It is quite obvious to me they are very young and have no real work experience. At my location, I was the oldest person there. Most of my coworkers loved the place, kissed managers feet, and worshiped the ground they walked on. I have more than 30 years of work experience and I can tell you, from corporate to small business, Wayfair is one of the absolute worst places. Backstabbing, expected to bow down to managers, I was expected to clean and tidy the office as the system administrator, and I didn't put up with that. Because one of my peers wanted me to bow down to him, and I refused, he helped get me terminated. I even saw on my papers where the complaints were from him. If you are young, willing to bow down and do whatever you are told, while smiling, then you are exactly what Wayfair wants. It is a horrible company in every way. Those who disagree and say it is an amazing place and love it must not have much work experience. I just read a review from a person who clearly bows down and does whatever they are told and worships managers. That is exactly what they want.
