Don't do it / Toxic

Pros

One of the only big "tech" companies if you want to remain in Boston. CEO is very good.

Cons

1. Toxic Environment. People are hired and fired arbitrarily without a structured methodology or consultations, especially during firing decisions. Have seen analysts in our team get fired because they "didn't get along with their manager", and they weren't right for the team. It's disgusting. 2. Career progression is slow. Since decisions are highly centralised, there is rampant favouritism. 3. Toxic "Bro"-Culture. It's disgusting. It tries very hard to be a start-up, but it's really just a badly-run big corporate. I've been here a year and its been a pain. Have seen and friends & colleagues go through much worse at Wayfair. Don't do it.

Pros

- Fast growth. It is exciting to see that the work that you do impacts more and more people every day - diversity. People from all walks of life, nationalities, etc. both in management and front-lines

Cons

- Low pay for the location (Boston is hugely expensive) - Very very political organization. The only way things get done is to have an ally on the top. I know this is very common for big organizations but it is ridiculous how much more political it is than other large places I've worked with (e.g. P&G) - Lack of respect for people as humans. I saw many colleagues get fired after less than a year, some of them a few days before Christmas, after having been moved from other states or even other countries with their families. Managers that fist-bump you every morning will get you fired without a second thought. - a lot of people act smugly because of the success of the company even if they are not directly related to said success. If you question or suggest improvements to anything that any team does you are casted as a doubter and unsupportive

Pros

Fast growth company makes the vibe exciting.

Cons

No personal space, chock-a-block desk layout like a news room. Will cut you quickly if you don't measure up in your role, rather than helping you meet expectations or find a new position within the organization.
