Pros

-Snack wall in office -Lots of young people -Gym discount -Opportunities to learn and interact with a lot of different teams

Cons

Upon joining, Wayfair seems like a great place to work, but if you look more closely it is not what it seems. The company boasts a great company culture and caring for employees, but that is simply not true. Associate/Senior Associate employees are extremely underpaid compared to the market, and for the workload that they take on. Employees frequently ask leadership about providing raises, however, questions are frequently avoided or responded to with indirect and unhelpful answers. Employees are provided 6 paid holidays per year- which is hardly enough. PTO is also laughable and while everyone is entitled to their PTO, there is a feeling that management discourages employees from using it. Overall, management does not care about its employees, as much as they claim to. With COVID the workload has increased and employees are expected to work extremely long hours without appropriate compensation or additional time off. Additionally, management does not do a good job of preparing early-career employees with a direct path to career growth and will avoid opportunities to promote employees. Even if there is a promotion, prepare for an extremely low pay raise on top of the already low salary. Communication is also a huge pain point at this company. Wayfair has also delayed notice to employees about WFH during COVID to maintain in-office collaboration when realistically it is extremely inconvenient and an extreme health risk to bring employees back into the office in the fall. There are so many things wrong at this company, and unfortunately, free beer and snacks will not make up for them.

Pros

Nice Work Space Good Experience

Cons

Rapid KPI changes and wild strategy shifts. The director level really needs a clean out. VPs were really nice and interested in hearing new ideas. Company goals were not translating well to the director and especially associate director level.

Pros

Young crowd, very few cool perks like beer and snacks

Cons

Salary is as low as you will possibly get in the market for your job function. Wayfair knows people want to put Wayfair’s name on their resume so they use it to pay as low as possible. If you want a promotion, you have to wait 2 years. Even if you do your job well you have to wait because that how wayfair retain employees longer. They make them hope their promotion is right around the corner and they drag it forever. Also, even if you do your job well, you might still be ‘underperforming’ because managers are forced to give some people bad rating. So if you haven’t been there at least a year don’t expect to be an average performer - people have been waiting to get that rating longer than you. Managers might know how to do your job well but they don’t know how to lead and coach you. The company expect you to work hard and long hours and keep pumping in your head that they promote work life balance but that’s not true. You will find yourself giving a lot more than you get and you will not get credit not other incentive for it. Most people don’t last more than a year there, every week someone I worked with left. You will never be exposed to why the company make any of their decisions. It is chaotic because wayfair thinks that hiring lots of ex consultants is good but no one have strong roadmaps or vision and and if you are in an entry level position you will gain nothing from working there, you won’t have any decision power over your own work.
