Pros

Everyone acts friendly. They offer good snacks and drinks. Innovative and hard-working people.

Cons

Employees are put under extreme pressure to perform. You will most likely be overworked. It is unusual for employees to last for 2 years in this company. They will tell you that they only employ the very best. If you are not performing above average, the risk that you will lose your job is high. About half of the employees are in a constant state of fear, because they do not fall into the "above average" category. Even in teams where a manager or senior manager believes that their employees are meeting expectations, they will be put under pressure to downgrade someone, because performance is graded on a curve. They see this turnover to be healthy. Many foreigners are hired, and their visas depend on their employment contracts, so when Wayfair lets them go at the end of their 6-month probation period, there are very few options available to them within Germany. Merchandising and Talent have very low satisfaction ratings by their employees, because of boring, repetitive work. The employee turnover rate here is extremely high.

Pros

Somewhat decent pay and benefits Fast-paced company with a lot to do Some great team members

Cons

Awful management. High turnover resulting in a constant need to start over on strategic goals. Poisonous office politics. Entrenched groups that are afraid to work outside their silos, as collaboration is not encouraged or rewarded. An office so over-crowded that just finding a bathroom can be a daunting task. The culture is disingenuous at best to outright lying at worst, you are thrown into the grinder with almost no training or integration and expected to learn as you go. You are told that mistakes are okay, however, mistakes are anything but okay, and are instead held against you from day one, the entire workforce is paranoid of having any creative thought or pursuing any collaboration due to the nature of that culture. Staying in your lane and doing as little as possible to branch out are highly encouraged, as is having to ask 20 times for simple tasks to be completed by other teams. Even as a senior engineer, it was still only possible to get movement on a number of processes by escalating to higher management, who seems to want to keep a stranglehold on all decisions, no matter how small.

Pros

To be honest, the cons far outweigh the pros. Sure, the healthcare package is ok, dental insurance, gym contribution and free snacks twice a week but....

Cons

Where to begin. First of all, believe every negative review you read here. Most positive reviews on this site are by staff members who are told to leave positive reviews by their managers to bump up the company score. It's blatantly obvious. This place is flawed from the core. Managers, both senior and junior, are highly incompetent and are only hired based on tenure or being "in" with someone high up. Progression opportunities do not exist for the high performer. You can work your socks off and be rewarded the same as the non-performer in the seat next to you. Pay is dismal; close to, if not, minimum wage for skilled work. Honestly, it is the worst career decision I have made. Don't do the same. If you value integrity, dignity and transparency at work then keep looking. There are great jobs out there. If you want to work for liars for minimum wage, then go for it.
