Pros

The people that work at CSN are generally great, and a lot of fun to hang out with. The benefits are also really good, and CSN works pretty hard at forming a good work/life balance. You will learn a ton during your time here, so as far as professional development goes it's a great place to be. I definitely enjoy my job, and I like coming to work every day.

Cons

Pay. It's been said many times, and it's really true, as a rule people tend to be underpaid (in some cases drastically so). This is really the only major downside to working at CSN. The company's attitude is that they can find recent college grads, and pay them pennies on the dollar. People are just getting out of school, and don't know what they are worth. CSN then proceeds to give these graduates extremely dangerous skills, and in some cases has a hard time retaining their top performers as a result. After a year or so, people begin to realize that they can get $10-20 thousand somewhere else, but don't want to leave because working at CSN is so fun. At some point though, people have had enough, and they start to leave.

Pros

CSN has a very causal environment where interaction with colleagues is made easy with company outings, monthly group outings, season tickets to the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and the theater. Upper management has created an environment where you are encouraged to ask questions and provide your opinions and suggestions to anyone in the company, no matter your level or their level. We are also supported and encouraged to move around the company if there is an area that we are interested in and feel that we could excel in that group or role. Our health insurance is also very good. There are several different plans to choose from that all have a low monthly premium cost for employees.

Cons

Although there are many benefits to working at CSN there are also some major elements that hold the employees and company back. The salaries are low compared to similar jobs nationwide and very low when compared to Boston and other areas in Massachusetts. This is a major hurdle that current employees struggle with and that push many people to leave, or apply, for other jobs that provide a competitive salary for college graduates . Currently, there is very little room for advancement at CSN. However, in many cases when promotions do occur the people promoted are not always the hardest workers or the most knowledgeable. Many promotions are determined on favoritism and popularity. The more office friends you have outside of the office the more successful you will be at CSN. CSN has a casual environment, however, employee work schedules are less flexible when compared to other companies. Although we can take our vacation/sick time off at anytime we aren’t able to work from home and we have to have a set schedule of Monday-Friday for 9 hours (with an hour break). Those hours have to be set and completed between the hours of 8am-6pm.

Pros

It's a fun and casual work environment. Good first job out of college.

Cons

The pay is awful but people put up with it because of the lax work environment.
