Lot of process and too many hands on the tiller

Pros

There is a good work life balance

Cons

Too often, there was work being done resulting in conflicts between departments. I believe that more process was being introduced in order to address this, but it really just added process. There did not seem to be too much inter-department collaboration and there was no one person driving projects.

Pros

I worked at Wayfair for about a year as a marketing associate. I enjoyed the people on my team and developed really strong working relationships. They became friends outside of work, too. A lot of us were early in our marketing careers, and we helped each other grow and learn. I gained a lot of digital marketing skills that have proven to be invaluable. There were lots of opportunities to learn about how different departments operated. The casual dress code, central location, and free snacks didn't hurt either! Benefits were also excellent. And it's certainly a great company to have on your resume.

Cons

I learned a lot in a short time, but after a few months, I wasn't feeling challenged, and my work felt monotonous. Compensation was low. I wasn't a fan of the open office environment, although I know that's pretty commonplace these days. I left for a more challenging role with a much better salary, but my experience at Wayfair helped me land that role, and I'm happy I had the opportunity to work at Wayfair.

Pros

- Super intelligent people and good social culture - Good benefits - Lots of ownership potential and ability to move up in the organization if you stick it out - Great place to enhance analytical and marketing skillsets and get exposure to growing ecommerce company

Cons

- Stress levels on my team were very high and work/life balance promise didn't seem genuine in practice - Compensation is below average and can be stingy on perks - Micromanagement can be demotivating, but varies greatly across teams and managers - Young culture and great for those rising up from entry level, but if you're coming from the outside with advanced degrees or more experience, don't expect to be valued or rewarded for it
