Collaborative Culture, Intelligent People, Great Work Life Balance
Pros
Wayfair is by far one of the best places to work- the people genuinely care about you and there is tremendous opportunity for career growth. You have the opportunity to work collaboratively and cross functionally, are encouraged to learn through creativity and are rewarded if you work hard and go the extra mile. The office environment is exciting, fast-paced and there is never a dull moment- people are always celebrating the wins, both big and small. That being said, the expectations for work quality are extremely high, but you are constantly surrounded by supportive mentors, managers that are always there to answer questions, have your back and give feedback, and peers that are willing to go out of their way and help you in any situation. There is a large focus on the idea of "psychological safety" across the entire company- where people are not judged for their failures, but are encouraged to learn and grow from them. I see this as a huge win for the company, because they are allowing people to take risks and be creative, without the risk of being punished or judged for it. I would highly recommend Wayfair to anyone that is eager to learn, thrives in a collaborative environment, and seeks mentors and peers that are encouraging, helpful, and extraordinarily smart. Lastly, the work life balance is fantastic- people really respect personal time and you will rarely get an email, call, or text outside of business hours (unless there is something extremely urgent).
Cons
There can be a lot of sudden change within Wayfair- it can be intimidating if you are not a person that is comfortable adapting and reshaping your role as the business grows. This is just a natural side effect of being a large company that is still rapidly growing. We are first and foremost a tech company, but we are also an e-commerce company, so major holidays are some of our busiest times- we don't get a lot of holidays off, but the PTO policy could be a little more flexible.
