Pros

Quarterly company parties (if you're in to that sort of thing), technology stack is pretty solid, office location is great, offices are attractive

Cons

Non-mandatory gatherings are secretly mandatory, management is a group of friends who will ignore numerous complaints about any single person the group, the internal "restructure" was just for show, everyone is hiding fear of being let go, they're junior developer turnover rate is enourmous, vacation package is a joke, the company politics are unavoidable and ridiculous, everyone in management is two-faced

Pros

Nothing good is here except location, Copley

Cons

- For new grads they created HELL called Wayfair Labs. - You are given low quality work to do in first 3 months and demons to look over you, they won't leave single opportunity to blame you, - You'll always be in fear because they start kicking you out .. even for small mistakes - You are punish for asking your doubts on slack(communication channel) - THE-ONE-WHO-CANNOT-BE-NAMED is king of this hell, he'll smirk at you all times, make you realize you have done terrible mistake by joining this company. - They don't judge you by any software engineering standard, THE-ONE-WHO-CANNOT-BE-NAMED knows how they judge. - HIGHLY advisable to new grads to not join this place - From the engineers I talked, Nobody is happy there, everyone is under pressure and hanging sword on your job. - Not worth to join such place, they'll make you feel you are the worst engineer.

Pros

Nice office in a good location

Cons

At the end of 2019, one of my loved ones was diagnosed with a rare degenerative brain disease (CJD). This disease has no cure and we found out she had 6-8 weeks to live. I told my boss about the diagnosis and asked if I could work part time remotely so I could be a primary care taker. This included me working remotely 3 days a week and taking unpaid PTO 2 days a week until my unpaid PTO ran out. My boss agreed. I asked her if my job would be at risk if I did this. She assured me that my job would not be at risk. The next 2 months were the most emotionally exhausting months of my life. I had to balance caring for someone I loved and coming to terms she would be gone soon, while working remotely from across the country. After she passed away I returned to work. When I returned to the office, my senior manager (on a team of 9 people) never said anything to me regarding my situation. She never offered me condolences or any words of encouragement. For several months I was depressed, still coming to terms with the loss I experienced so quickly. In March of 2020 I had a performance review. This review evaluated the second half of 2019, which included the months I was across the country working remotely. Out of a ranking system of 1-5, my boss gave me the second to worst rating. I found this harsh considering I had been taking care of a dying loved one. One week later, my boss called me into a conference room and said I was being let go due to my inability to meet expectations. This is how Wayfair treats employees who are struggling with mental health.
