Recent changes in MIS

Pros

Other divisions at WB are excellent to work at instead of MIS. The studio is pulling down record revenues for the past 2-3 years and that trickles down to the business units.

Cons

MIS made a change in 2008 and replaced 75% of its workforce with a consulting company from India. Now, a job that was once enjoyable is intolerable. The business units despise MIS even more than before and as a WB employee, you can't do anything to change it because you depend on incompetent consultants who are not able to provide service. Management has their hands tied because the Executives signed a contract for 5 years that gives the consultants a fixed payment every year. This removes any incentive for them to invest in capable talent.

Pros

There are a lot of business and change management processes. Fun to work with entertainment company with perks like free movie screenings and free DVDs. Lots of travel for employees in global implementation. Some of the upper management on business side as well as IT side are very smart. Ample of volunteer opportunities with non-profits, environment initiatives Get few days off in summer.

Cons

Extremely political environment. Old school and not willing to try new things. Promotion is proportional to years of service and not competence. Top heavy.
