      Compartmentalized mega-corporation that does not seem to understand the insurance middle-market from the inside or out.

      Pros

      The benefits package is solid and comparable to other large corporations.

      Cons

      Very little communication between departments. Rather than offices working as one team/unit, their structure is extremely compartmentalized. Example: Claims department told one thing in regional conference calls; producers told another in theirs; commercial lines told yet another story in theirs. Did not seem to be any communication between department heads at the top of the food chain, they all just tried to do their own thing (doesn't work on a local level!)

      Working with really intelligent and hard-working people.

      It's difficult to see any advancement within. Promotions are rare.

      there's really smart people and challenging assignments. this keeps you on your toes and helps you learn day to day.

      Cons

      there's clear favoritism. doing a good job isn't consistently rewarded. not always clear what the rules are for getting ahead and seems to vary by manager or business or office.
