Pros

WSP has a few ongoing big job that was started few years ago which has been taken over many times by newly employers and if you like the challenges while working under pressure and dealing with the internal politics than WSP is the place for you.

Cons

Everyday you are being pressure and intimidated to complete your task by working very late including weekend, despite your superior knows that you are already overloaded and having a family to take care. Effort and hard work is very seldom or never recognize by your superior however if things goes wrong or delayed you will only be blamed. Management in WSP is like those typical type of management who refuse to acknowledge their employees feedback and constantly giving excuses just to side with the higher up to keep them happy. For the salary increment or bonus every year is low despite how much effort you put in your work due to the fact that most money are wasted on redundant things such as outsourcing BIM work which needs to redo again internally due to its poor quality, paying for certain programs license that was not being use as well mass hiring professional to do certain task which was not necessary.

Pros

WSP is very generous with the amount of vacation time they start new employees with. The company also invests a tremendous amount of money into employee training and development. The company is also very community-oriented and is very active with several organizations.

Cons

The insurance is not that great and is rather expensive. Managers are inaccessible and Implement a fear-based management approach. If you are hired by this company some managers will expect you to stay there for your entire career and threatened to call prospective employers that you receive offers from and tell them that you are off limits. Managers are also not receptive to first line supervisors taking charge on projects.

Diminished by takeovers & endless cost cutting

Pros

Larger company still has access to more international and mega-projects and major clients - but usually forced to use cheapest staff so access to opportunities can be limited and very political. Result can be beneficial for junior staff giving exposure but limited support can lead to discouraging failure with no senior backup.

Cons

Cost pressure from highly leveraged acquisition still felt, impacting benefits, training & employee programs as well as endless billability pressure (like all A&E firms but targets pushed higher over the years for same grades). Results in bad morale and mid level employee retention issues.
