Pros

Very very good offer letter and best words from HR department after the interview to attract you. Nothing else.

Cons

Will fire you immediately after the completion of probationary period. worst top management. they don't know how to utilise the resources. strength of HR team is more than core employees but useless. Recently WSP fired almost 50% of top professionals from the team. Remaining guyz r working in fear daily.

Acquisitions ruined Golder

Pros

The reason I stayed so long was because of my team. Golder built great teams of strong engineers with good communication styles.

Cons

So many. WSP grows through acquisitions. Attrition is so high they are constantly trying to stay net positive. There is no sense of loyalty to the WSP brand. Two years after Golder’s acquisition and the only integration was switching financial systems (which failed miserably, crippled our ability to bill clients, placed ridiculous stresses on PAs who had 400% increases in work, honestly I encouraged them to quit they would call crying, and handicapped PM’s ability to track cost and actually manage the projects) if you’re still there you know what I’m talking about. WSP does not view geotechnical engineering as anything other than something to sub out and ignored what Golder could bring to the table. Constant restructuring of corporate org structures lead to mass confusion and indifference. The org chart was over 25 pages long and we could barely find our region boss. Way too much admin cost Not a place for a seller doer model Raises and promotions are difficult to come by unless you have a counter offer from another firm. But if you have that you might as well leave. It’s not worth fighting for raises every evaluation. Golder was underpaid compared to the industry due to high benefits. When those benefits went away during the acquisition no attempt to increase pay existed. With more access to financial information everyone knew they were underpaid and faced stiff approval attitudes to increase pay. People are leaving left and right. No loyalty to the WSP brand. Do not recommend.

Pros

We get paid every two weeks as expected and on time.

Cons

Cost of benefits is exorbitant. The employer to employee ration is approximately 55 to 45 (although they will BS you into thinking its 60 to 40). 401k match is a joke. Zero flexibility-working from home is frowned upon on the rare occasion it is allowed. Compassion never enters the building...9/11, Blackout, Hurricane Sandy-use your own PTO despite the fact that there was no way employees could travel to work. While the engineers who are the bread and butter of the organization can be condescending, obtuse and mean they are outdone by the senior managers in Corporate. Diversity is a joke joke joke. Age discrimination is rampant. Sexism just par for the course. The toxicity of the New York office is epic. As a hiring manager, I can not begin to express the ineptitude of the recruitment department. I have been in this organization 10+years, there has not been a decent recruitment team in place in about 5-6 years. Is finding talent to find your talent really that difficult? Technology is woefully behind the times. And instead of addressing this, they decide to outsource the broken systems antiquated systems to save labor costs. PB was its own sad little place, but since the WSP takeover PB now looks like it was Disneyland. We had no idea things could possibly get worse. WSP walked in and said hold my beer, we can show you true miserly misery. It is definitely time to end this chapter
