Pros
Worked for Mack Trucks over 27 years (retired 15 years ago) and had many roles starting as hourly and then salary! Mack had some of the most talented and dedicated people in truck engineering and assembly. Never met anyone who didn't proudly say they worked for Mack & in public most wore symbols of their employment like Mack hats, jackets, shirts, belts etc. I even had a Bulldog on the hood of my pickup truck! The trucks made in Canada or USA were outstanding. I still keep in contact with many. Great Company, great heritage & proud to say "Built like a Mack"
Cons
During my years lots of turmoil. Truck sales go in cycles so lots of layoffs and temporary Plant closures. Then of course permanent closures like 5C, Oakville, Canada Assembly Plants & other facilities. Failed strategies in Southern States added more turmoil. Many top management people launched arrows into the Mack carcass & yet it still limped on because of dedication of its employees! AB Volvo gained ownership and slowly sucked away the Mack culture that made it the "Greatest Name in Trucks".
