      Best job I've ever had

      Pros

      I just got my BA in sociology and want to be a social worker. This job has given me the best hands-on experience I can ask for. I love working with the kids and even though they are tough, they are worth it. My co-workers are great people and I've been lucky to have 2 good partners. I like my boss.

      Cons

      long shifts on the weekend kids can be tough and hit you not always a lot of places for the kids to go after Victor

      Structured environment for the students to thrive in. Decent pay for teachers. Staff who support you.

      Cons

      Too much work-load given during the school year, when teachers should be focused on teaching.

      Great start into social service

      Pros

      They tend to hire people best suited for the field (sometimes some bad). The culture of the organization is fairly positive. You will receive a ton of training which is transferable across various fields and agencies. MOST supervisors are supportive of professional and personal growth. Gaining experience providing direct contact work with clients and families.

      Cons

      There is a ton of work being that it is non-profit. They will push and ask for more of you. Management (mainly mental health) can't seem to get on one page. Example: one manager will tell you one thing, and another will tell you something else. They will preach self-care and time management, however, offer minimal support in helping you reach those goals. Appointments are based on the families schedule, so it always varies.
