Pros

The compensation is good. There is still a pension plan for associates with free medical insurance. Not so for management however. Verizon will pay for your college education.

Cons

The union has sold out the associates, Upper management is full of cronyism and nepotism and treat lower management simply as pawns to further their own agendas and careers. The constant downsizing has created a fearful atmosphere and there is constant backstabbing and brown nosing. The needs of the customer are getting totally lost in the numbers game. They pretend to care about customer service, but internal roadblocks constantly prevent employees from actually doing their job.

Pros

If you are a woman and having babies to milk the Health/Pregnancy benefits. If you are all about being a salesman, the company rewards sales heavily. Such as commissions and compensation for sales, even in other channels besides 'sales'. Industry is monopolized, and the company does not need to share much of the wealth beyond protecting itself against the ever growing threat of Unionization.

Cons

Very short-term company with a very short-term strategy of making as much cash as possible in the shortest timeframe. No real long term strategy. Leadership not knowledgeable of technology or direction things will go beyond 5 years. Very short-sighted business model and management of employees. Very afraid of unions, giving short-term benefits vs. any real long term stability.

Pros

Provide 6% matched 401k, Hybrid works. Great Health insurance Education assistance program

Cons

One potential con of working at the company is the perceived lack of diversity within the leadership of the technology department. Specifically, it has been noted that the director, managers, and VP of the department are all from the same ethnic background. This has led to perceptions among some employees that career advancement opportunities may be influenced by racial or ethnic affinity. Additionally, during periods of layoffs, there have been concerns that decisions may disproportionately affect employees who do not share the same ethnic background as the managers. Furthermore, the company has been outsourcing jobs to India, which can raise concerns about job security for local employees. These perceptions can impact overall morale and the sense of fairness within the team.
