Vail Resorts - Experience of a lifetime

Pros

Vail Resorts is truly filled with people who are passionate about the work they do and the locations where they do it. It is important to everyone that the mission statement is experienced by guests and employees alike (Experience of a lifetime). The overall culture is amazing - I have never worked with so many people who truly love what they do, will work hard to accomplish amazing results, enjoy the outdoors and be so proud of their company. There are more bright and energetic people throughout all areas of the company, working hard to accomplish innovative goals and it is truly a pleasure to be a part of that.

Cons

While they strongly believe in promoting from within and growing the careers of those at Vail Resorts, they tend to pay the person and not the position. People who work their way up through the company find themselves in salary ranges well below competitive wages. It is a shame to lose so many talented people due to the fact that they can no longer ignore interesting offers at much higher salaries.

Pros

Free Ski Pass, snob appeal--others are impressed when you say you work there

Cons

Little direction or communication from Senior management, left on your own. Workers tend to fit their work in around their recreation, so forget trying to get anything done on a short time frame. If you aren't an expert skier, triathelete, or if you have a BMI above 15, forget it. Full of narcissists. Not team oriented so Boomers with work ethic beware. Pay is on lower end of scale.

Pros

Ski Pass, Beautiful Locations, Nice people, looks good on a resume, decent vacation time.

Cons

No growth potential, very corporate, you can not express any new ideas, micro managing, you feel you will get in trouble all the time, drama, low pay.
