Pros

Good schedule (4 days on, 3 days off), free lift pass, discounted employee housing, ability to find a likeminded crew of friends to ski/snowboard with, access to the mountains and resort

Cons

Low pay, no health/vision/dental/retirement etc benefits of any kind, grungy work environment, long hours, boring and unfulfilling workday, condescending customers, open willingness to terminate employment without consideration for employee or context of infraction -- company sees this position as a low-level job and easily replaceable and you are treated as such.

Pros

-week long instructor training that you were paid to attend -Increases in hourly wage for certifications and hours worked (I stared at $10/hr and ended 1 season at $13/hr) -Offered lots of free skills clinics -Only work 15 days after training for season pass -Great tips from customers -super flexible schedule

Cons

Obviously it is a huge company and with a massive number of instructors (800 the year I was there) so you can get lost in the mix. There were also many days when they intentionally overstaffed so you sat around for an hour or two (getting paid but only ~9/hr) and got dismissed, so income was unreliable. Other parts of the year you were booked for 2 weeks straight

Pros

Ski pass, fun mountain, the freedom to do the job at your own speed. Friend ships can be made by hanging out with people.

Cons

Corporate really needs to start to show an interest in their employee base and acknowledge the difficulty of living in the towns they operate their business in.
