      Experience of a lifetime, just not a good experience.

      Pros

      Ski Pass, Non-management Employees, Coffee and casual dress.

      Cons

      Poor Middle management. Poor Pay. No real culture, even though the talk about it a lot. High Turnover. Promotions are for those who kiss the most......., well you know.

      Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our company on Glassdoor. We do love that our culture at our headquarters is one of a casual atmosphere, where there is a deep sense of community among the staff. Some of the feedback that we receive during our employee engagement survey and during staff meetings is that they we truly enjoy working with one another and the shared similar passions for the outdoors and innovation really make it fun to be here. It is also due to that feedback that we receive during the enterprise-wide employee engagement survey that our talent management team has launched a new leadership development class every year. Our 8 module long leadership essentials class for new managers or those interested in becoming a new manager has been going strong for a little over a year and we have received great feedback. We also launched our Camps 1-4 for seasoned leadership to continue to drive his/her potential to collaborate and challenge their teams. We are excited to see what this does to develop our managers from the ground up and lead great people.

      Pros

      From phone interview to in-person interviews everything was well planned, executed and worthwhile. Communication was regular and timely even during periods of waiting - they made sure I knew where things were, and when I would hear back.

      Cons

      Expectedly for executive candidates it can take some time to line up calendars for interviews so be patient; it's well worth it.

      We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on Glassdoor about the interview experience. It is great to hear that the communication was consistent. Our talent acquisition team has been optimizing the communication process every year and it’s great to know that we are closer to where we would like to be – though there is always room for improvement. I also agree that for our E-level candidates the calendar time it takes to line up interviews can be fairly long. We recognize that we have some growth opportunity there for any future executive level candidates to see if we can make the process more efficient. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

      Great Culture!

      Pros

      I've only been here three months, but I love it! Vail Resorts has a strong brand and is definitely an innovator w/in the industry...it's fun to be part of that. Just about everyone I've met here is passionate and truly wants to be here. The culture is very collaborative with a focus on employee engagement and the size of the company is perfect for me: Large enough to invest in big and exciting projects yet small enough to not be too impersonal or bureaucratic. The free skiing and discounts are great too!

      Cons

      We seem to waste an inordinate amount of time managing expense vs capital. I'm glad that the company is financially responsible, but there are some definite opportunities for process improvements.

We would agree that many of our employees are very passionate about what we do and the outdoors and it creates a very dynamic team environment. We love that we are able to drive innovation in our industry and see where the combination of technology and ski resorts can take us. EpicMix is something that is truly groundbreaking in our business and we are very excited to see more developments like it. Being a public company, we are very diligent when it comes to financials and it does absolutely take some attention to detail to forge us into financial success. We understand that the timely process for financials can be long running and we look forward to your recommendations to make that process more efficient.
