Pros

Smart people who love the ski industry especially those working in the resort.

Cons

There are a lot of challenges in working in marketing with Vail. There is little empowerment in decision making where senior leaders VPs to the CMO review copy for GTM. Budgets are super tight requiring approval for minimal marketing tech asks. Overall people are not team players across teams. I have never worked in a place that people don’t help others. A lot of time spent on the perfection of format instead of the strategy.

Pros

No Dress Code and FTO (if you can actually find free time)

Cons

Vail Resorts is a smaller company than it was a year ago. Smaller in sales, profit and headcount. They have more debt than in the company’s history and it will be much harder for them to acquire resorts until much of that debt is paid down. With that knowledge, ask ask yourself why there are so many positions open, especially positions in corporate functions (Finance, Accounting, Procurement in particular) that are less sensitive to business activity? Believe me, it’s not growth!! Vail Resorts is no place to start or grow a career.

Pros

Free coffee, pay was good, views from the office were incredible

Cons

Our manager that was very inexperienced and never really provided any direction. The team was not well coordinated. There was a lot of confusion and the whole project was a bit of nightmare. People just made up stuff as the project went a long. Co-workers who had been there awhile just steamrolled over anyone new. The development team was impossible to work with to the point that one of them was confrontational. Pinging me directly with insults. They claimed to be Agile/Wagile but it was fully waterfall. To start, I was stuffed into a small room with a card table and antique office chair. But, then Covid hit and I was able to WFH.
