The VMware main campus is beautiful.

Cons

This company is constantly in a state-of-change. Managers come and go all the the time and HR allows people to be managers who can't manage people. People work for people, not companies, and at VMware, you work for the company. VMware has moved from being a start-up to a company run by finance. Citing the macroeconomy, VMware has also recently cut back on employee benefits, however, I find that hard to believe when the company still posts profits quarter after quarter, after quarter...

Pros

Employees are treated well. In fact employees can get away with anything. There are no pressure to work late. Come and go as you want as long as you get your work done.

Cons

Lack of talent at all levels of management from the top down. No process. No communication. The only way to get promoted is politics, not how well you perform. To much fighting between teams. VMware employees and management forget that they are competing with other companies and not internal departments. Too much money being spent on stupid things.

The company is in a great place to grow exponentionally. The work environment is great, people are great, and everyone truly has passion to improve VMware.

Cons

The company is growing fast and the company is feeling the growing pains. The great close knit feel of the company is dying. New management is being hired from large companies like Cisco and Oracle and management is trying to push its big company burucratic processes on VMware employees.
