Pros

Most people are smart, fun and supportive

Cons

Sr. management is very self-centered and ambitious on a personal level, offering no support to their subordinates, and only interested in impressing each other.

Thanks for the review and agree that we have a group of smart, fun, and supportive people. Our executive team values maintaining a strong culture. In fact, our CEO recently met with everyone in the company to get their suggestions on how we can constantly be improving.

A great company that is growing fast

Pros

- Work with passionate, talented people who care about the product, from the newest intern to the CEO. - Treated like an adult, given latitude to make decisions within your purview and plan your own workday. - Great work environment. No suit and tie! He//, no shoes (shirt required though, please). Drink beer on the job (just don't spill on the keyboard, please). Work whatever hours you want (within reason). - ZERO crunch. - FAFF (Fridays Are For Fun). Time permitting, you're allowed to work on a project of your choice and often the last part of the day is a party, everything from go-cart races to beer drinking. - Great relationship with customers. They appreciate the democratization of games the engine provides and the passion of the crew, and respond in kind.

Cons

- Repetitive work (but I knew this going into the job). - As with most jobs in the game industry, the pay isn't what you'll get on the outside. But you're working in the game industry, and you'll never hate going to work in the morning! - No matching 401k.

This review is from 2013 and since this time we have grown considerably, honed our focus, grown our leadership team and have amazing benefits. If you are still working with us-we hope you have been able to take advantage of the 401k match and other increasingly amazing benefits such as commute, fitness, and excellent paternity/maternity leave. Thanks for your hard work and the review!

Pros

Pros are friendly people, a great CEO, smart people, good lunches, nice conferences, good travel support.

Cons

Politics now need to be managed better as the company is growing so fast and inter and intra group dynamics could be nicer. The sales team folks are set up to compete against each other and the channels - which is a bit bizarre. There is also no process for career development or job sharing across divisions to stimulate employee growth. Management from overseas occasionally tries to manage directly, but does not understand the nitty-gritty of the dog eat dog sales world the employees on the sales team live with and manage every day. The vision of the company and it's investors, and tactics to reach the vision is too short term for most of their business development managers to get the deals the company needs longer term (after 3-5 years out).

Thanks for your 2012 review. In the time since you wrote your review, Unity has grown considerably with an aggressive long term outlook and is making a strong effort to support employees both with skills training and excellent benefits. What was a sales office in 2012 is now the gorgeous global headquarters.
