Pros

Unity has some seriously fantastic benefits from Equity, Health Care, Holiday allowances, free snacks and drinks, great pension, amazing Wellness and Commuter benefits. State of the art equipment to work (and game on!). Unity really show they care about their employees. When the pandemic kicked off, Unity offered employees a large sum of money known as a Work from Home (WFH) allowance so that employees could kit out their homes with adequate desks and chairs and other things to support working from home and make it a bit easier. They also introduced the concept of Connect Days. Several times a year, unity gives all employees time off in additional to the usual holiday allowance. To go and re-connect with other people. Unity has regular company town halls and other various syncs throughout the business which pull in employees to listen and engage with various leaders of the business.

Cons

Base salary at Unity is a bit of a problem. Especially when a number of people do look at their base salary as an indicator of success / growth. The compensation combined is brilliant, but not everyone wants or cares about Equity. Unity introduced the idea of Salary bands but then often employees are being promoted outside of the salary band. You're told that employees shouldn't know what the bands are anyway, so it shouldn't matter. Just recently they announced that this would need to stop. It'll be interesting to see if that does happen in the next promotion cycle. Working From Home - Although the business has clearly functioned and done extremely well over the course of the pandemic, they're still adamant that employees should return to the office. There's a process to follow that would enable you to request remote work but it's another problem when it comes to hiring or retaining top talent. There's lots of roles out there now that will pay more (base salary) and offer fully remote to employees and we are loosing out to good talent due to this.

Pros

Live traffic, interesting product, great team.

Cons

Hard to say. If you prefer academic data science, may be this is not the best place for you - here it is much closer to production.
