Deception and lie

Pros

Some of the most talented engineers I worked with

Cons

From day one until last week, when Unity decided a lot of us are disposable, every day was filled by empty promises, misdirection and the occasional "my way or the highway" from management. In their wisdom our dear top management decided that the company only needs engineers and started last year to cut all the other roles. But it didn't work out the way they wanted and now they blame us for being remote so they imposed a RTO. Stakeholders only chase profits, they forgot a long time ago about the game engine, that laid the Unity foundation, and just shift with the wind throwing buzz words about Metaverse and AI hoping suckers will buy into their fantasies so they could sellout and retire. None of those things exist. I haven't seen any innovation in my entire time at Unity, only acquisitions, disbanded teams and the most incompetent board there is in this industry.

Pros

Good work-life balance, good colleagues.

Cons

No sense of direction. Leadership is mostly absent, and otherwise shows a staggering level of incompetence. A culture of silence, where developers may share their grievances and fears between themselves, but dare not speak out to management.
