Pros

The people who work at Unilever are great. They are motivated, work hard and work well within teams. There's a really good collaborative atmosphere. Agile working is great. There is a great trust between management and employees. No one is looking at the hours you are in the office, what time you come in, what time you leave.

Cons

The other side of the medal of agile working is that you basically work all the time. No one pays attention to the time you get in or leave because more often than not, you work late and work many, many, many more hours than your contracted amount. Senior management and HR are all about "head-in-the-sand" philosophy about any employee's difficulty. If you have any problem at all (even if it's workload, line manager, colleagues), you can't look at HR or senior managers for help. You're basically screwed. There's been a lot of suicides due to work pressures the last couple of years. Unilever's way of dealing with it is to do these run-of-the-mill, standard Health & Wellbeing workshops which are completely useless. Salaries are low. Basically, if everything is fine, Unilever is an amazing company. If you have issues, look for a job elsewhere.

Pros

People are great- some of the best i've ever had the pleasure of working with.

Cons

Absolutely decimated the employee compensation and benefits over the past 2yrs. Cut bonuses by 33%, annual raise will now be a flat 0%-1% regardless of performance, medical coverage is terrible and will cost you a fortune. Notorious for screwing the employee- not only do they charge you $200/month for your company car, but in 2015 a handful of employees did not have this fee deducted due to an HR error...they are going after the employee to pay back the fee rather than overlooking it since it was a Unilever issue. In May 2014 a huge reorg resulted in mass layoffs and a large number of demotions so the comany could cut costs...the 2 weeks later they announced a massive renovation to headquarters com, plete with electric car ports, a botanical garden, and many other bells and whistles......compliments of the employees who were let go....real classy Unilever.

Always Prioritizes MTs

Pros

Good exposure to different fields, can opt to transfer from one function to another, good compensation

Cons

ALWAYS values MTs more than other employees. Lesser experience of the graduate trainees makes it hard to deal, make them difficult bosses because they "lack experience". Always focuses on KPI. Slowly losing "human touch", too focused on KPIs and business need rather than employee development
