Pros

DGS offers its employees unlimited free standby travel on Delta flights (meaning you fly only if there is an open seat available). The company also offers health/vision/dental insurance and retirement fund matching. Depending on where you work, your employee ID may be good for a slight discount in airport shops and restaurants.

Cons

Conditions out on the ramp vary greatly from station to station, but the extreme heat/cold combined with long, irregular hours makes for a pretty miserable work environment. Managers are promoted based on seniority rather than skill, so those in authority over you probably don't know any more about the job than you do. Furthermore, the pay is pathetic. Even in the cheapest markets that DGS serves, you have no hope of surviving on full-time wages (which are almost always less than forty hours per week). This is a side job only. Take it for the free flights, but don't come here looking for a career.

Pros

Great workout where you learn to do everything and get paid peanuts to do it. Won't get fired if you are late or just don't show up. Don't worry about training because you still can get employee of the month even if you haven't done 33 lessons.

Cons

Poor pay. Top salary after 3 years is just above minimum wage. You will make more working at Walmart. Free travel but you will get bounced from flights by Delta mainline personnel who only have weeks employment and you have 10 years. You are expected to be in charge of a flight making sure the weights and balances are correct but you are not compensated accordingly for such an important task.
