Pros

if you work in the salon you get any salon service done for free, and if you work for the store side you get half off and even up to 60%.

Cons

I’ve worked for ulta for 2 years and at first i really liked it. All of us that worked for the salon got along great the store side did have some issues but they really weren’t big. but since I’ve worked there we have had 3 diff GMs. and me and 2 other girls are the only ones that have worked there for over a year and a half. the dm can not seem to keep any managers in the store long enough to actually fix problems we’ve had 5 salon managers in the last 2 years the last salon manager hadn’t done hair in 15 YEARS!!!!! and didn’t know how to use a computer. which are both part of her job. after numerous complaints from employees and customers she was replaced. and now they have replaced her with someone that can do most of her job. but still doesn’t know how to run a salon. She has asked employees to clock out in the middle of the day and come back later when there next client comes in because the salon was over hr. (which is against the law in cali, and I belive so in az also) asked employees to(work off the clock) not come in but take mandatory conference calls from home so they don’t use salon hr. and don’t get paid for them. She’s very rude to her employees. I’ve worked for other company’s and have never worked for a company as disorganized and mismanaged. also telling employees about mandatory meetings 2 days before the meeting and then when someone cant come because the meeting is on there day off and wont be in town.she told them that she would have to write them up if they cant come.

Pros

It's a woman's home depot! Everything you need to feel beautiful under one roof. What's not to love? Great makeup at your fingertips (Both high end and commercial mass products), professional artist come in to show you newest trends, a salon in house to get pampered, and GRATIS!!! It's like being a counter manager of 16-20 counters. As the Prestige Manager position is concerned, the company is moving to a part-time model for all new stores (with a decrease in pay from their full time counterparts). But there is great growth potential as new stores open every year even with the poor economy.

Cons

You are not a salaried manager with fixed hours. You will be paid hourly and your full time hours can range anywhere from 30-40 hours. There is no overtime, and don't work any because you will be written up and/or not paid for your time. Getting the prescribed training completed can be very difficult as payroll hours can vary, and often training hours are cut to aid floor sales. You would think you'd invest the training hours as consultants would sell more on the floor. You will have to become creative on how to train your associates while they are selling on the floor.
