Pros

The job in itself is great, great pay and benefits.

Cons

Management, from the postmaster all the way to supervisors are horrible and do not have your best interest. Make sure to track all of your milage and hours yourself outside of the timesheets they provide. They will swindle you out of your pay if they can.

Pros

Benefits. The holidays off are good too.

Cons

No job security at all. Have lost 25K in pay cuts in the last 15 years. Christmas season sucks.

Pros

If you're a sub, the hours are extremely variable, but if you call in to other stations when you're not on the schedule, they will find something for you to do. So you can always make money.

Cons

Management doesn't follow a single rule. Its literally the Wild West out here. If you dont know your rights, they will try to screw you over. For example, did you kn ow that they CANNOT write you up without a Union Steward present? Present as in "in the room". If your union rep ism there, you dont have to sign ANYTHING. I know a girl that was bit by a dog and she was entitled to 45 days paid leave. They knew this. and they knew that she didn't. but they didn't want to pay her and they didn't want to let her stay off to recover from the bite. so they hid the paperwork from her. Never trust management. an d record every conversation.
