Pros

-RCA's get offered medical insurance now - big improvement -_- -Meeting new people and coworkers -The pay is OK not nearly what it should be -Good office- at least the one I am in (many other offices and supervisors micro manage) -Cell phone companies give you discounts for being government employee (ATT 25%) -I enjoy being responsible for myself and my mistakes with the casing part of the mail -Position can lead into a career...may take 5 years..

Cons

An RCA is for the most part used and abused. Some supervisors expect you to get back on time and want you to be perfect. When you first start you get up to three days TRAINING. Most supervisors do not, I REPEAT, do not follow this and will/can throw a new sub on a route and be expected to come back at a decent time. This is not the case. Many carriers spend more than 9-10 hours a day they are first on the route because you are not comfortable with the case. You need to learn the case. It is hard. Not to mention, a regular carrier that is assigned to a J route (off every other Saturday) does not give you proper amount of time to learn the case and will take forever to figure out what works for yourself. Position is draining physically No benefits besides medical (sucks) No clothing allowance You do not have a set schedule, you must be able to work any day including weekends. More then likely, you will be working Saturday, Amazon Sunday, as well as Mondays which are guaranteed 11-12 hour days! Some supervisors are up your butt... Oh, and more then likely you will work through your breaks. Many people still work while they are sick. I barely ever have lunch until I get home at 2-4 in the afternoon.

Pros

Depending on your location you could have great coworkers or terrible ones. My office was great. When you're not overworked the job isn't that difficult.

Cons

Under paid and over worked. Room for advancement is minimal as a part timer. When you first become an RCA it takes almost a year to become proficient at your job.
