Pros

Pay every Friday. Provides work experience for kids. After working this slave like job I'm sure they'll want to study hard, in order to avoid jobs like this one.

Cons

Their training method (three days) doesn't reflect reality. You start paying union dues since day 1 but aren't an actual union member until after 90 days. Even if you work six hours you probably won't get more than one 10 minute break unless you demand it. You have to wait one whole year to get benefits. They send you home if there is not enough work (usually Fridays). High turnover, because it sucks. Breathing dirty air from dirty trailers (probably not good for lungs).

Pros

Most people were really nice and pleasant to work with. The work environment was good, facilities were about what you'd expect. Canteen with vending machines, fridge, microwave, kettle.

Cons

Traffic is a nightmare at night. If you left before 5pm it would take a minute to get out of the estate, but if you left after 5pm it would be 30 minutes to go 100yds to the business estate exit. My boss wouldn't be flexible about start and finish times, even though they and others in my department came and went as they pleased. Offered to start later and finish later or start earlier and finish earlier but they wouldn't entertain it. I'd not been there long and this incident set off alarm bells for me because their reaction to being asked a simple request was bizarre. As I say most people are really nice but there were a few who had been there for years and years and they were allowed to speak to you like crap and the rules didn't seem to apply to them. My immediate supervisor was one of those. The flexibility about times and my request really brought it home to me that we wouldn't get on. They just couldn't find it in themselves to compromise about anything after my initial request and I decided to hand my notice in a few weeks later. HR in my exit interview said they would have facilitated some flexibility but I felt that my boss would have taken this as a declaration of some sort of war, I just wanted to leave quietly, at the end of the day I just want to earn a living not go into battle every day.

Pros

Base salary is decent. Decent benefits. Well known company. Very stable. Recognizes diversity. Base salary is decent. Base salary is decent.

Cons

Horrible work life balance. Red tape. Reducing costs take precedent over honoring commitments to your customers. Engineering minded company that is clueless about sales. Other departments run their own agenda and do not work together collaboratively. Sales is left to pick up slack of other
