Pros

Paid part of my way through college with their tuition reimbursement program (management only)

Cons

Too much company inbreeding. The only company positions available to outside hires is working as a package handler. Teamsters and Management are always at each others' throats.

Pros

After a few years working there through school (with tuition assistance), you will gain enough seniority that your hourly pay is acceptable & the benefits are wonderful (my doctor & dentist have both commented as much). As it is a part time position, this does not prevent you from staying employed at UPS while having a 2nd or 3rd position elsewhere.

Cons

The starting pay is less than to be desired, less than a living wage (8.50/hr). There are regular raises however. Opportunities for advancement as a PT Package Handler are nearly none... As UPS is Union, all advancement is based on seniority. 8 or 9 years may be enough in order to go from a 3-hour job to a 6-hour job, but the minimum for getting a full-time (8-hour) position is 13 years! It is similarly difficult to advance within the management tracks from a PT supervisor, however, the opportunities and skills acquired over even a brief tenure as a PT supervisor are invaluable when seeking full-time employment elsewhere.
