Pros

After a few years working there through school (with tuition assistance), you will gain enough seniority that your hourly pay is acceptable & the benefits are wonderful (my doctor & dentist have both commented as much). As it is a part time position, this does not prevent you from staying employed at UPS while having a 2nd or 3rd position elsewhere.

Cons

The starting pay is less than to be desired, less than a living wage (8.50/hr). There are regular raises however. Opportunities for advancement as a PT Package Handler are nearly none... As UPS is Union, all advancement is based on seniority. 8 or 9 years may be enough in order to go from a 3-hour job to a 6-hour job, but the minimum for getting a full-time (8-hour) position is 13 years! It is similarly difficult to advance within the management tracks from a PT supervisor, however, the opportunities and skills acquired over even a brief tenure as a PT supervisor are invaluable when seeking full-time employment elsewhere.

Pros

Easiest job Ill ever have for sure. They payed for my college which is nice. Working nights sucks but the actual work is easy.

Cons

Night shift sucks. Get used to it eventually but its not for everyone. Also a lot of people there that dont have any real life goals to do better than make $25 hr part time.

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
