Great University that misses its potential again and again

Pros

Great colleagues and students - enthusiastic, creative, and supportive.

Cons

Authority, resources, and salaries are concentrated in a relatively few individuals at the top of the pyramid, which hurts retention of highest quality faculty and in turns diminishes all aspects of the University's ability to succeed in its mission.

Pros

Benefits, Retirement Plan, Work Location

Cons

Very little job security if you're not in the union. Exempt (management) employees are in a constantly tenuous situation. It's a very corporate environment.

Pros

None, at least for me

Cons

UCLA claims to have the best benefits, but I felt they were expensive and the more money you make the more you pay in premiums. You are put into brackets based on your income. Benefits are definitely not the best. They dont mention to you that the pension (retirement) is mandatory. For what i remember is was about 7.5% of paycheck. Also, if you want to park on campus you must pay $80 a month for a parking pass. These things are not mentioned during hiring process.
