Pros

None. This is the extent of the matter.

Cons

Ah, UC Irvine, where to begin? As a former employee, I can tell you that the leadership at this institution is so meek, it could barely inspire a mouse to squeak. They're like a timid lamb, afraid to make any real decisions or take any risks. It's no wonder that resistance for resistance sake is the norm here. The lack of direction and organization is astounding, and it's almost as if the higher-ups are purposefully trying to make things harder for everyone involved. Let's talk about mistreatment. I'm not just talking about the way they treat their employees, although that's bad enough. It's the way they treat everyone who isn't in a position of power. It's like they think they're better than everyone else, and they'll go to any length to prove it. Position posturing is practically a sport around here, and if you're not in the right clique, forget about getting ahead. And don't even get me started on hypersensitivity. Everyone is walking on eggshells, afraid to say or do anything that might offend someone else. It's like we're all living in a bubble of political correctness, and any deviation from the norm is met with swift punishment. It's enough to make you want to scream. Finally, we have stupidity. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be insulting, but there's really no other way to describe it. The decisions that are made here sometimes leave you scratching your head in disbelief. It's like they're purposely trying to make things harder than they need to be, and the result is a mess of confusion and frustration. Overall, if you're looking for a job at UC Irvine, I would suggest you look elsewhere. The leadership is meek, the resistance is strong, the organization is non-existent, the mistreatment is rampant, the position posturing is ridiculous, the hypersensitivity is stifling, and the stupidity is mind-boggling. Unless you enjoy being constantly frustrated and intimidated, I would suggest you take your talents elsewhere.
