Pros

Working at UCLA has been a great experience. The benefits are strong, including healthcare, retirement plans, and generous time off. The work-life balance is solid, and the overall culture is supportive and respectful. I’ve had the chance to work with smart, mission-driven colleagues who care about what they do. The campus is beautiful, and there's a sense of pride in being part of a well-known university. There are also a lot of professional development resources and room to grow if you're proactive. Job stability is another big plus, especially in roles that are part of a union.

Cons

Like many large institutions, things can move slowly due to bureaucracy. Processes and approvals sometimes take longer than expected. Advancement can also depend heavily on seniority rather than performance, and salary increases are limited by union contracts or UC system policies.

Pros

Diverse, accessible, non stuffy, (at least from my experience in Arts & Architecture Department). Care for their workers. Amazing health insurance. Beautiful campus!

Cons

Internal systems slow can slow down productivity. Not surprising for academia. Salaries can be low. They once "forgot" or were slow on inputting my increased salary (raise) and I had to remind them repeatedly to backpay me for my lost wages from the wait time.
