Pros

Working in the IT department, there are some opportunities for growth, but you have to really make that decision for yourself. The work itself isn't extremely challenging since it's mostly customer service. Because of that emphasis, there's less technical skill required and more intrapersonal skills. It's a great place to start though. It's also nice to work on a campus because there's always things going on around.

Cons

Depending on your supervisors, there's always the possibility of micromanagement. The culture is probably different depending on which department or area you end up working for. Salary is probably on the lower end, despite the benefits, and because most of the staff are made up of UCLA graduates, it's not as easy to work your way up as other public sector jobs.
