Great way to stay sharp

Pros

It's a professional setup - as a tutor, you have the backing and protection of a big company. Over 90% of my sessions are outsourced from colleges and universities and that suits me just fine. It's a lot easier to just get down to work when both the tutor and student don't have to watch the clock as closely. Once you get out of the probationary period, it's a great way to stay sharp and make a bit of money in your spare time.

Cons

The layers of anonymity surrounding everything is often frustrating. The company is too afraid of tutors running away with their students or unionizing. I found pay and schedule availability for Excel/Word to be poor, but both are much better with Finance or Accounting.

Very poor experience

Pros

Flexibility to choose your own schedule. Look elsewhere like I did. InstaEDU pays twice as much and management is much better. More hours are available as well.

Cons

-Very low pay ($10/hr) InstaEDU pays twice as much -Every session is monitored and reports are written about each session and you are expected to respond to each one (and not get paid for it) -Common Core proponents (very likely). A concept can be overtly obvious to the student, and yet they will not be satisfied. -Very few hours available (not even part time) -The system is set up such that you waste as much time as possible with the students (in order to make more money of course). -Very awkward whiteboard (as if writing with the mouse is not already extremely tedious, the platform is grossly underdeveloped) -You'll feel like you've worked way to hard to earn even $50. Not worth the effort. Not even close.

Pros

Setting your own schedule, flexible, it's okay to miss hours, fairly easy to get promoted

Cons

Less than typical pay for tutors, no real training (you have to know your stuff and then follow their rules), competition for hours is rough and there are very few available over the summer and around school breaks
