Good for what it is

Pros

Extremely easy to work from home and around your own schedule if you manage to snag the hours.

Cons

Can be quite difficult to get hours at the start. You really have to be ready to schedule the moment the new week opens up.

Pros

They get students to you. They provide software. You learn to operate in a dynamic setting, quickly changing focus.

Cons

There's a lot of points one could complain about and, instead of duplicating here, let me suggest perusing a few other reviews on glassdoor to get the idea. But I do dislike proposals of tutors to start organizing against tutor.com. If tutor.com breaks a law - fine, challenge it. But please stop whining about their policies, I assume they know why they have them in place. Move on if your cons so heavily outweigh the pros, or even better: start your own company and compete them out of business! I stayed for almost 2 years, got two promotions, got reasonable help from mentors, and learned a lot dealing with difficult students. Eventually it became clear that tutor.com's low pay makes this no longer worth my time, but that's a personal decision, in full respect to the opportunity tutor.com offered me.

Pros

Flexible scheduling - you can pick which hours you want to work every week (assuming those hours are available), most of the students truly want to learn and are grateful for your help, great way to stay up to date on subject matter, generally supportive management staff, there are opportunities for advancement.

Cons

There are not always many hours available, particularly in the summer...this makes it difficult to meet the metrics to obtain bonuses; pay is significantly less than what I would charge to work with someone privately. Tech support is far from responsive - although they claim to respond within 1 business day, I have never seen it take less than 3-5 days.
