Pros

Work hours flexibility and remote work environment

Cons

If you are contemplating joining Tutor.com, be warned that it is an over-administered organization that is not necessarily staffed with people who are qualified to evaluate tutor perfomance in certain areas, at least not in mathematics (calculus). My performance was criticized for "doing too much work" while tutoring students who were struggling with basic concepts and simply needed to be guided once through the process of applying a technique for solving a problem. After this stage, practice is the key. And fixing all session durations to either 25 minutes or 60 minutes to help a first-year calculus student to derive a formula (e.g., for things such as the Economic Ordering Quantity Model) is worse than short-sighted, it's counter-productive. For $15 an hour I, as a retired electrical engineer, considered this more a labor of love than a source of income. The Tutor.com management obviously invests far more money in administrative things like their labyrinthine and un-navigatible website as well as for their staff of performance review agents who have questionable backgrounds in the areas that they review, at least in math/science. Also, be prepared to receive emails from administrators who explicitly list their pronouns with their signature...however if that's the kind of organization you want to work for, this is the place for you.

Pros

As long as the minimum wage in your state is high, tutor.com is a great side-hustle. Lots of flexibility.

Cons

You NEED to know your material. You can't reject many sessions, even if they are outside your exact expertise.
