Pros

Online tutoring, no need to commute. Flexible hours, can schedule a few hours in advance or logon and wait for students without scheduling (they use the term float). Tutoring is open 24/7, students may come any time. Can work from any location with stable Internet access and standard PC. Great students. Performance-based bonuses. Promotions are rather easy to get for qualified tutors. Some mentors are great and fully support and encourage tutors in good and bad times.

Cons

Strict policies regarding session lengths (cannot work with a student longer than x number of minutes), acceptance percentages (must accept more than y% requests), x and y depend on the subject. Violations may result in warnings and terminations. Sometimes it is difficult to explain a concept or work on a problem and stay within limits. Certain questions may be outside the subject area but there is no clear rule to determine that. Bonuses and tutor employment depend heavily on student ratings some of which may be undeserved but cannot be removed. Some mentors are not so great and only concentrate on negative sides. Stress because of the above.

Pros

Staff members are professional and kind. Fast return emails if you have a question about a certain concern. Flexible schedule. My last year of employment in the company was in 2009, not 2012.

Cons

pay is a bit low.

Pros

Only that you can work from home

Cons

Many: in summary this is and old boys enterprise because only the 3rd and 2nd status tutors are allowed to work. The remaining levels: tutor 1 and probationary almost never get hours to schedule, and mentors always are inventing bad arguments to fired a tutor. Many students does not respect tutors and many other issues. My advise is try to get a job in an university or a school. Moreover there are about 15 standard aspects to get used in order to be accepted in only 2 months
