Pros

Young office and great people You will learn a decent amount This taught me to REALLY appreciate past and future jobs/companies

Cons

Understaffed, underpaid unless you are extremely senior. Compensation is almost pyramid scheme-esque. Your first 3-5 years in this sale role you will be making anywhere from a quarter of a percent to (max) two percent commission while your manager or director makes the other 9%. INSANE. 60-80 hour weeks for 40k/year

Pros

Possibly a good starter agency for a new translator, because they have lots of work.

Cons

Things went well to begin with, but starting in 2008 went downhill rapidly. Always lower and lower rates, and tighter and tighter deadlines. Each job has to be negotiated individually. At present, the two founders are fighting in court. I will certainly not accept work from them as long as this is going on.

Pros

If you work for TransPerfect, you will appreciate what you had before joining and the job you will get after you leave...

Cons

I have been reading the "positive" reviews on here and it makes me laugh... seriously. There are some seriously brainwashed people out there. I worked at TransPerfect for almost a year which is considered to be a long time! The average employment time for TransPerfect employees is 3 months. Do you think this is coincidence? I witnessed AT LEAST 2 people quitting each and every month. People were crying at their desks while middle and senior management are walking around swearing, laughing and using inappropriate language in the work place. The average working hours were between 8:30am - 8:30pm and sometimes the managers would have the nerve to ask you to come on a Saturday!! Of course saying no was not an option as you would be considered an-supportive or lazy. The reward you will get from working long hours under extreme pressure will be free breakfast or pizza! No...I am not joking. And don't even think about complaining...they never listen or take complaints seriously, managers are rude and have a twisted understanding of what leadership and managing people means. After giving everything you have for this company they will end up insulting you with things like "if you are not ready to work hard then this is not the place for you...." seriously? Apparently employees should be over the moon when working hard in appalling working conditions and with no rewards and a tiny salary. If it wasn't for graduates that come fresh out of uni and do not know any better, the company would have collapsed years ago. For any person who is considering joining TransPerfect, you deserve better than this...but if you still want to experience this awful company for yourself good luck and looking forward to your negative reviews in a few months time ; ) Since I left TransPerfect I am happily working somewhere else for A LOT MORE MONEY and normal working hours. Could not be happier : )
