Not worth it

Pros

Good office location, they hire with no experience so good way to start

Cons

Where to begin… cons include but are not limited to: - Micromanagement - Senior management is not trained/cut out to handle their roles which leads to lack of support for the team, favouritism, unfair treatment, unprofessionalism… - team members are only blamed for low morale by managers instead of trying to fix issues - Employees are treated like commodities, and are replaceable at any point (they will fire you without a second look if they feel threatened) - work/life balance is inexistant - salary is not competitive

Pros

-Really good experience. With such a large project load and tight turn around times, if you can make it here, there’s a good chance you’ll be a great PM after TPT. The 1-1 trainings with managers can take anyone and turn out a good project manager too. -Amazing people. I truly don’t think I met a person face to face or online that I didn’t like or admire. Everyone I came into contact with was extremely kind and willing to help if needed. I am sad to leave such an awesome community behind. Very determined, and dedicated company of people! -Good support. At least in my experience, while official training left a lot to be desired, 1-1 training with my manager was extremely valuable I learned an unbelievable amount from my manager. Additionally, I’m not sure how this translates to other teams but my team was unbelievably supportive and willing to help or get help for anything that I needed. They never left me hanging. -Solid health benefits. I worked for an insurance company before this and I can’t stress enough that the health benefits here are worth it, and so cheap per pay period too. This isn’t something I see talked about often on here, most likely because TPT hires such young employees but I would factor this in when deciding about employment here. -Good room for growth. If you can stick it out here, there’s good opportunities for growth. Many in management were able to move up quickly as positions can sometimes rapidly open up and TPT hires from the entry level.

Cons

-Low pay. Not competitive at all, I mean, bottom 10th percentile for what a project coordinator should be making. However, if you’re able to make it work, I think the work experience here is worth it. With that, given the high stress, huge work loads, and urban locations for every TPT office. I would really appreciate some salary flexibility here as it seems like all PC’s earn about the same regardless of location. This is a big problem and you will hear about it often if you work here. -Work load. At times it’s overwhelming, and as soon as you feel like you’re catching up and keeping your head above water, you’ll get a new challenge dropped on you. There were many weeks I worked until 7 or 8 pm most every day of the week. I haven’t met many people here, in production, that aren’t overworked or overwhelmed, so I’d be ready to work hard if you’re interested in TPT. -Harsh divisions. There’s not a lot of thoughtful collaboration between sales and production. Why, you ask? Because very few, of either side, know what each other do. Keep in mind that you work with sales every day, so you will find yourself explaining processes to them or vice versa. Communication, is challenging here, I know TPT is working on this, but it’s still a struggle. -Low WFH ability. We live in a post covid world, and our WFH abilities are supremely limited here (in training you probably won’t get a lot). For those who rank higher or even other business units (TDC or Translations.com) this doesn’t seem to be an issue, but for core TPT PC’s you are not going to get to work from home much. This is particularly annoying considering commuting for this job requires you to pay for your own parking or Ubers to get to any downtown office (they give you an eco pass, but that was woefully unhelpful in my city). -Steep learning curve. Similar to my above comment about work load. This job is very challenging in the beginning as Transperfect has such set in stone processes for everything. Not to mention that there are processes done here that aren’t done anywhere else, you will have to learn how to be a good project manager and figure out the niche TPT processes at the same time in order to be successful here.

Unfair pay, fake diversity commitment, no work/life balance

Pros

Many people are passionate and driven when they first come to the company. Lots of autonomy

Cons

The company is a total boys club, only focused on sales without regard for the people at the company who make sales possible. Salaries are completely inequitable and the only way to make money is to come in with a high salary. There are people sitting next to each other, doing the exact same job, making vastly different salaries ( like 70k vs 110k) I was written up for discussing my salary at work publicly. Raises are minimal and not reflective of the current market. They think that culture makes up for how bad the pay and benefits are. Shady CEO- give him a google. A sales leader refused to have his team do a 15 minute diversity training because they wouldn’t be making sales during that time.
