      Pros

      As technicians, you will always have the inside scoop and support on new or existing technology. In franchise offices, independant thinking is generally encouraged and repected. The salary, responsibility, and experience is at the top of the industry.

      Cons

      Company owned offices: 1. can have a robotic feel, 2. can discourage nnovation, 3. can be motivated by short-term profit, 4. can be unwilling, or unable to see their own faults.

      IR/ETC as a senior technician for 5 years

      Pros

      The Pleasanton ETC (Electronic Technologies Corp, a nationwide security installer that IR purchased) personnel were fantastic. There was good pay and benefits (actually from Labor Union); reasonable bosses.

      Cons

      Not always enough work in the pipeline; unknown since the sale of the Security Technologies arm to a defense contractor in 2011 (Kratos). Excessive paperwork. Not recycle/sustainability savvy.
