Perhaps too much emphasis on promotion of diversity creates subtle and unintended devaluing of non-diverse employees.

Pros

Great Technical experience, and perfect for your resume. It’s a very easy product to sell and has been setup to win. Anybody can sell a Trane. A lot of opportunity to socialize and network. Most all of the work is given to you. Trane has a very strong pipeline of work. You never really have to chase most of the work your receive. Don’t even have to do customer visits if you wanted to. Nobody monitors it. Once you’re in with the ‘in group’ it is a very easy place to work. Come here to make really great money, but review the cons…

Cons

The internal social system is very high school-ish. There are social circles and they make the people not in those cliques feel it when not in those circles. It’s like walking on egg shells, or constantly being uncomfortable in social situations. The young staffers move like snakes and will manipulate conversations behind close doors. There is a lot of commissions manipulation and thievery. Yes you make a lot of money on commissions, but if you’re not monitoring the hundreds of jobs you are actively involved with you will lose out on money deserved. Too many meetings. There are meetings every day that take up 2-3 hrs of your morning, and you are expected to be in on these meetings despite actually needing to be on these meetings. Imagine being scolded for missing an internal meeting regarding small changes that could have been released in an email, because you were visiting a mechanical contractor closing a $1MIL sale. Yes, that was me. They market mental wellness very actively….there is a true disconnect in that. Certain staffers have a very known history in reporting incidents to HR, but also being instigators to matters. It really is like going back to high school, or working with college students. There is no more the era of Trane suits and technical sales. It’s very childish. Come make lots of money, get the experience, and get out. That’a the Trane way. Very good reason why most all the successful companies and people in NYC Construction have left and become top dogs and top earners in the space. Most even bigger than Trane.

Pros

Exciting vision for the overall organization. Some leaders are excellent and truly care.

Cons

Horrible leadership in the Midwest region. Boys club mentality. The regional leaders have no clue about the daily operations. They have no respect for the people doing the work. A couple area leaders are excellent but their input only goes so far.
