Pros

Great products; respected, well-known name; financially stable; some wonderful employees. This is a company that has some very useful products and a strong demand. Lawyers get great benefit from using Westlaw and the books West publishes.

Cons

No professional growth or opportunity for advancement, average pay, and incompetent management, especially those in the small law firm segment. The new pay structure does not encourage over achievement. With a larger base salary and smaller commissions, sales reps are not motivated to do much more than necessary.

Pros

working at Thomson provides one with a great opportunity to grow career by making internal transfers and promotions regularly. on the downside, there is not much training and much of the senior management seems to be in a constant churn

Cons

The sales commission plan and territories seemed to change on a once yearly basis which was quite unstable and did not foster long term relationship building.

Pros

Balanced personal / work life, time off for emergencies. Seems to be a pretty stable company. Start out with 3 weeks vacation which is nice. Health benefits are okay but pricey.

Cons

Horrible Politics and red tape, Middle management completely out of the loop. Company moves at a snails pace when it comes to Technology. No real communication between middle and senior management. Excessive overlapping of different products competing with each other. No real Think Tanks, Lack of furthering career and advancements. Lack of training on new technologies. Manager promises the world but we end up with nothing.
