Even During Recession, The Container Store Excels for its Employees.

Excellent Training for everyone. Outstanding pay across the board. Professional, hands-on senior management with an excellent open-door policy. The Container Store has found equitable ways to ensure no employee has been laid off during the recession. They consistently promote a team approach and openly share all pertinent company news and information to employees. They hire competent, highly motivated people who take pride in their work.

Cons

With higher salaries comes higher responsibilities. All employees are expected to work harder, to do more by sacrificing some of their personal time to make sure the store looks its best at all times. This can often be challenging.

Pros

Open communication, a very positive work environment, sure things are tough in the retail industry these days, but where are they not? The Container Store is known for paying store employees almost double the retail industry average, so it is very tough to beat that. For the past ten years The Container Store wins one of the top spots on the best places to work lists and that speaks volumes as those are anonymous surveys. The turnover is almost non-existent, and that compares to the retail industry average that is over 100% per year. The company has a lot going for it.

Cons

You have to like the retail industry and it is not for everyone.

Very stable company. And I always enjoyed the people I worked around.

Cons

Retail in general has been tough lately, but at least this company isnt laying off a bunch of people.
