Pros

the container store is very flexible when it comes to scheduling. for the most part the work is very easy and the people there are wonderful to work with. although some things have changed through the years, you can't really complain for what you are doing.

Cons

Since the sale of the container store to LG Green things have changed a bit. the feel is no longer a privately held company, but rather just another store in corporate america. i also feel that the hiring of sales managers from outside the company as opposed to hiring within has left the employees wanting a little more from management.

Pros

When it comes to retail businesses, The Container Store is the best! They prioritize how they treat their staff before their customers. It's a happy, friendly place with open communication. And you're always learning something new! Oh, and course a great employee discount!

Cons

No major cons. Limited hours, but that's mainly due to the economy's effect on retail these days.

Pros

The customers are great, and we sell outstanding products. There was once a fun energy to the store and I think I am still trying to feel it even though the store has changed. Most of the great people in my store have already left, with disgust.

Cons

Crazy scheduling, not just your average retail schedule. You are expected to be "Gumby" and inside term meant to exemplify your willingness to do whatever it takes for the business. It's a fun idea if everyone plays along, but the Store Managers sit in a room while you run around like a chicken with it's head cut off. You have to be gumby but they are incredibly inflexible. Most of the managers in my store can't even perform most of the duties expected of the team. There is a "Foundation Principle" touting "Communication = Leadership" and yet it is the leaders of the store who do not communicate. If someone leaves the store, it can take weeks or months before many people realize the person is gone. Everything is a secret, no transparency. There is no opportunity for closure. There is a very real culture of recapping everything via voice-mail to your superiors but what they really want is for you to throw other co-workers under the bus. They say the way to get scheduled hours is to be "available" as much as possible. This is from 5 AM to Midnight 7 days a week! If make yourself available for 40 reasonable hours per week, you might get 10 hours, in 3 hour shifts. A computer makes the schedule and they claim that they go along with what it says. I can't figure out what 3 of them are doing in their offices if it doesn't involve scheduling. This is a terrible place to work. Every time I see new hires sitting in "Foundation Day" I want to scream "RUN"!
