Pros

Pros are hourly wage, and wonderful customers...lots of great people work here...but that is changing too. Today I was speechless to find out that one of the really great employees left our company. She was there 9 or 10 years and was one of those really great sales people. She welcomed me to the company when I joined. Our customers loved her and she had a way about training and selling in a welcoming way. She was one of my biggest Pros. I feel sad as the Pros keep walking out the door. The once contagious air of excitement is turning into the air of no one cares anymore.

Cons

We keep losing all the great ones. One by one they seem to walk out the door after they can't take anymore of phonyville, USA. The cons are all together outweighing the pros. Every week I get my paycheck I wonder if it is still worth it. Lack of energy, excitement and fun that used to exist here is gone. Managers at our store are incredibly gifted with spin. They put a spin on anything unpleasant and try to leave you thinking whatever they want you to think. Interesting that they hire smart people and then try to get you to let them think for you..

Pros

The best and only thing left from the best reasons for working for The Container Store is the people that you work with. Even now though the number of great people that work there is down to a scant few but they are awesome at what they do. Thankfully we just got a transfer from another store that might help us a little bit since they have been with us for a while, and seem to know what is up. Hopefully he doesn't get poisoned by rest of them.

Cons

Hours can change every week now, sometimes even adjusted one day prior to showing up due to "market downturns." Managers are incompetent, and are untrained. They are more bureaucrats than the dynamos they used to be. 1 = 3, I remember when that meant that our managers would be able to do more than just sit in the back and fill out paperwork. And yes, even with the new office structure they still find a spot to sit, when they should be standing! Frozen wages, and yet we still have to fill out that 10 page review! Mine is finally being done in a few weeks, it was supposed to be done last year. This is a waste of payroll and should be streamlined, back to our older versions of our reviews a 5 point scale. More money is spend on "new" technology like our Click and Pick Up Call Button instead of employees. (Sounds like the suits are justifying their existence to the board of directors. "What do you do around here anyway?" )

Pros

Co-workers are the best part.

Cons

Bizarre new products that are ridiculously overpriced. Not sure if they want to be bed Bath and beyond or Wayfair or target or even William Sonoma but they're not the Container Store anymore.
