Pros

Good pay Decent people Nice store in general Cold Theres food in the break room almost all the time

Cons

Seasonal employment for the container store is definitely not worth the pay at all, you spend most of your time training which is really just watching the CEO talk about his great success in TCS its literally like just watching a cult leader on tv once a week of 3 hour training classes are done you are thrown into the merchandising shifts depending on your store you might start at 5 or 6 very high pace theres not one moment you have to yourself its a constant running back and forth until you get your 10 minute break. Other shifts include Visual and sales which is just doing your usual retail like work filling in shelves down stocking and talking to customers. Managers are always in the breakroom drinking coffee and talking literally do nothing but hold a key and huddle you in. full-timers are doing the same job as you, you clean bathrooms in closing shifts and the breakroom for the pay its not bad but seasonal hours are horrible, you have to be available for them 24/7 and they just end up giving you 10 hours a week. This was nothing like what you read on Forbes, Selling elfa is the only thing that matters in the long run if you can suck up to your managers show up for 3 hours shifts and persuade someone from buying a spice rack to a whole new pantry than this is the job for you.

Pros

The full-time staff doesn't screw around, they do their job well. All of my co-workers are pleasant to work with and are focused on everyone working in harmony. Excellent pay, and reasonable work.

Cons

Not enough hours to make it a steady part-time gig. They love doing things at the crack of dawn, turned me into a morning person.

Pros

Great discount if you like their products. The most wonderful co-workers I have ever worked with, bar none. Flexible work schedule, ability to take time off (but not paid vacation until you've been there three years) -- good for people who just want a few hours as second job or moms to get out of the house.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience at TCS did not quite match up to my expectations of a Fortune top company to work for. It seems their Employee First culture is rapidly sliding downhill. You don't get a lot of variety in your shifts, and will end up working the register for 5 hours a lot, unless you have put yourself in the good graces of the Store managers. There is no stability in scheduling for part-timers, you tell them when you are available, and you will get shifts all over the place that will wildly vary week to week. Some weeks you may get 10 hours, another week 25 hours with different days and different shifts. You can't depend on a set income. The other thing that surprised me is the blatant disregard for breaks during shorter shifts. Our state requires a paid break for every 4 hours worked, and not once in three years was I ever offered a paid break during 4 to 5 hour shifts. For a company that says they put their employees first, that's a little shocking. Since they went public, the general manager has become obsessed to the point of calling people out on the sales floor to the point everyone is scared to death of her. It's not a fun place to work anymore.
