      Not what it is made out to be

      Pros

      Great people at the store level, Elfa is an amazing system, phenomenal training for prime-time associates.

      Cons

      Non-existent training for new managers. The Foundation Principles are being ignored and associates are being treated unfairly. Upper management is still saying things have not changed since the company went public, however it is obvious that the only thing that matters now is the bottom line. In management, the GM will be defended no matter how bad they are or what they do. No room for advancement from prime-time to full-time and no growth for managers.

      NY Mgt Should Practice What They Preach

      40% employee discount, Great Co-Workers, Great Company philosophy (if the management team in NY would follow the example by corporate)

      Cons

      Too much favoritism in the NY market. Management micromanages too much and there is too much politicing going on. No matter how great of a job you do, they will try to find something negative to focus on, totally disregarding all the great you've done. They don't follow the example/principles set out by corporate in Dallas. They need to get a whole new management team with the exception of one or two of the managers because obviously the visits and re-training of management is NOT working.

      40% Discount on products and gift cards, decent starting wage, health insurance for part-timers, interesting customers, cool vendors and brands, schedule flexibility

      Cons

      The company has changed a lot in a downward direction since going public, not much room for growth, raises are next to none, favoritism comes into play quite often, things vary tremendously from store to store, the warm feeling of the company has diminished
